Stradbroke Island Management Organisation

Helping protect North Stradbroke Islands' natural attributes, since 1978

The Stradbroke Island Management Organisation, SIMO, is the longest running environmental group on Minjerribah, North Stradbroke Island, which lies off the coast from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Our members share the commitment to ensure the environmentally sustainable management of the island’s flora and fauna as well as its natural resources such as minerals and water. We work alongside many other local, state and national organisations to achieve this.

SIMO was formed in 1978 from a grassroots community campaign to stop a proposed bridge from the mainland. Since that time, we have been active in fighting to maintain the island’s natural environment and low-key coastal village character.
